Chuck Norris' best movie

Good story and solid script, good direction, great locations, great actors.
Everything works.
Code of silence is probably Chuck's best movie.

Hi there,
"Code of Silence" is okay although I am of the opinion that his best is either "Lone Wolf McQuade" or "The Delta Force".

reply

"Lone Wolf McQuade" was cool (of course, my favorite scene is the fight Norris-Carradine) And "The Delta Force" is a film i always enjoy, but my personal favorite is "Code of silence" for all the reasons that the OP gave...

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

'Code' is good, but 'McQuade' is certainly the greatest.

Hunting season is over.

Code of Silence is a good flick. A lot better than Sidekicks and Top Dog.

reply

I dig 'em both. "Lone Wolf McQuade" seems more colorful (super-charged Dodge Ram, Mexican mafia man in wheelchair, Kung Fu vs. Karate), but "Code of Silence" is a more well-rounded film. Just my 2 cents....once again, I liked both films.

This movie holds a special place for me.

I remember taping it off BBC1 in '92 and loving almost every moment of it, including the explosive finale with Prowler.

Unfortunately, what I saw was the cut version. Man, they even omitted Chuck's entire karate scene in the bar (moan).

It wasn't until 1997 when BBC's rival ITV showed the full, uncut version. I only caught the last few minutes of it and noted the additional gunshots when Chuck lays Comacho's goons to waste.

When I saw the film again in '99, that's when I caught the ace karate fight and I've even used clips of that for my mobile phone pic gallery.

What COS deserves is a Special Edition, with an audio commentary by Chuck and Andrew Davis.

I concur with your positive accessment of the film. I think it's one of Norris' best-ever 80's action vehicles. I likewise totally dig "Silent Rage" and, of course, "Lone Wolf McQuade."

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

reply

I'm glad you mentioned Silent Rage. I thought that was an exceptionally well made horror flick. I think this was in the midst of his quality streak, starting with Good Guys Wear Black, and ending with Invasion USA or Delta Force. After that, things got pretty run-of-the-mill for him, or he tried to do comedy (ugh).

If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!

reply

You can't forget the Missing in Action title.

reply

This and Hitman is probably the best serious movies he made.
But I have to admit that I enjoy 'delta force' and 'invasion usa' more, just for it's over the top silliness.

reply

^^ I'm with you. This may be his best film by typical review standards, but Invasion U.S.A. is the most enjoyably ridiculous 100 mins of film I've ever seen.

Terrific movie.

reply

It's certainly one of his best.

reply

Agreed, the subplot of police corruption raises it above the standard Chuck Norris fair.
