Why did Broadway revival close?

I was surprised too. I did not hear or read anything about why it closed. It did seem to be doing well; I read that after a year the show had paid off it's investors.
The movie is not good at all; it changed the show in ways that weren't necessary and detracted from the story. The show is touring; www.achorusline.com should give you cities and dates. A fan site, www.achorusline.org sometimes gives local or regional performanced.

It closed because this is an inherently insipid play with flat characters, no drama, and pretentious, simplistic, score and script. It is shallow and vapid.

That it happened to catch lightning in a bottle (being "different" and appealing to a new audience, rather unsophisticated, raised on rock and roll) in the 70's means nothing to audiences today.

With the passage of time, we see it for the dreck that it actually is.

Will they bring it back? Don't they bring virtually EVERYTHING back eventually?

How long? 4 years, 3 months, 10 days and 45 minutes.

I'm watching a documentary about the auditions. Very interesting. It has footage from the original cast and the recordings that the script was based on.
