Why did Broadway revival close?

Does anyone know why the Broadway revival closed so quickly? It played for less than two years! It seemed to be doing well.

Do you think that they will bring it back?

How long before there will be another revival?

I am so disappointed that I didn't get a chance to see it. I've never seen the 1985 film...should I check it out?

I was surprised too. I did not hear or read anything about why it closed. It did seem to be doing well; I read that after a year the show had paid off it's investors.
The movie is not good at all; it changed the show in ways that weren't necessary and detracted from the story. The show is touring; www.achorusline.com should give you cities and dates. A fan site, www.achorusline.org sometimes gives local or regional performanced.

No prob. I am a theater fan, and this musical is still my favorite.

It closed because this is an inherently insipid play with flat characters, no drama, and pretentious, simplistic, score and script. It is shallow and vapid.

That it happened to catch lightning in a bottle (being "different" and appealing to a new audience, rather unsophisticated, raised on rock and roll) in the 70's means nothing to audiences today.

With the passage of time, we see it for the dreck that it actually is.

Will they bring it back? Don't they bring virtually EVERYTHING back eventually?

How long? 4 years, 3 months, 10 days and 45 minutes.

I'm watching a documentary about the auditions. Very interesting. It has footage from the original cast and the recordings that the script was based on.

I'd like to see that. Have any details? Was it on a particular cable channel? What was the title? Perhaps it's on netflix or even YouTube. Any info is appreciated.

"Every Little Step."

Here's the IMDb page for it:

I saw it a couple of years ago. If I am remembering correctly, I watched it on Comcast cable On Demand under either the HBO or Showtime documentary category.

It was an enjoyable watch and included interesting trivia.

Hope you'll be able to find it.

I had forgotten all about this and only now recalled it by checking out the thread after getting the Blu-ray today

Anyway, Every Little Step is on Amazon Prime right now. Going to watch it tonight.
