Location in Wilmington

I was just wondering if anyone knew where in Wilmington "Cat's Eye" was filmed, i.e. specific houses. I have a friend who claims it was filmed in his old house, and I think he just made it up.

From the Goofs section:

"Errors in geography: The last story takes place in Wilmington, North Carolina but all the vehicle license plates are for Connecticut."

That probably means it was filmed in Connecticut, and not it Wilmington at all. In other words, your friend is most likely yanking your chain.

Nope - it was shot in Wilmington. I don't remember if there was any second unit stuff (only worked on the creature unit) but there might have been.

Think about it for a second. Why would they put Connecticut license plates on the cars in North Carolina? That would be a lot of trouble to make a mistake in the movie. I cannot picture a director going out of his way to put Connecticut license plates on the cars if the movie is being filmed in NC. Therefore, the odds are that it was filmed in Connecticut. It only makes sense.

Well, you think about it for a second. Why would they leave NC plates on a car that's supposed to be from Connecticut?

If the story takes place in Connecticut, we put Connecticut plates on cars. If the story takes place in Massachusets, like Dawson's Creek, we put Mass. plates on. We order fake plates. Or rather, Props does - that's their responsibility.

Trust me - I worked on Cat's Eye. It was shot in Wilmington.

Every time you see that creature's mouth snarl as he's spinning around the turntable, that was me pulling control rods. A buddy of mine was on the eyes (or maybe eyebrows, don't remember). I believe I still have Carlo Rambaldi's autograph lying around here somewhere.

Man, he screwed up King Kong '76, but that's another story.

As I said, there may have been some second unit shooting somewhere else, but I don't remember.

OK, I didn't realize you were with the film crew. If you say it was in Wilmington then I guess it was.

I live and work in Wilmington and they most definitely did shoot all the first unit scenes here in town. If you look closely at the street signs in the movie you will see names such as "Chestnut St." and "Princess St". All streets here in downtown Wilmington. As a matter of fact they filmed the party scene in the "Quitters Inc." segment at the Graystone Inn here where I work. You can also see the Graystone Inn in the background when James Woods goes to pick up Drew Barrymore from school.

Then, if this was intentional, why did they use Connecticut license plates? I don't get it.

I found this on the web.
