Forget tenchi, forget cowboy beebop, GO KNIGHT SABRES

Seriously, I love all japanese animation. I've been following the adventures of the knight sabres since I was a young lad. I love the knight sabres. To any of the knight sabres who read this board, thankyou for the wonderful years. And i love the music too.

Forget all of those.

Forget BGC. Watch BladeRunner! Haha. Kidding. But has anyone noticed how the Genom buildings/city landscape looks a lot like BladeRunner, esp. the big Genom building. Plus, the name "Priss"... like the name from one of the characters in BladeRunner :o) I like episodes 7 and 8 the best. They had the sharpest animation and some of the best music in the series.

BGC helped launch the whole cyberpunk genre in anime. It's revolutionary in that sense. I was blown away when I first saw it. I have experienced better anime since then, but I still appreciate its deep artistic value despite being a little antiquated. IMHO, BGC from 1987 is still far superior to most of the animated stuff being produced in the West in 2005.

It's still far superior than a lot of anime coming out nowadays.

Actually, BGC was heavily based on Blade Runner. It features similar settings and plot devices. Both feature a huge corporation whose headquarters is a pyramid shaped building, and both feature characters named "Priss" and "Leon". It even uses scenes based on scenes that were either scripted for Blade Runner, but never filmed (i.e.: when Sylvie and Anri escape the Genaros Space Station, and when Largo kills Quincy only to discover that Quincy was an android double). There are even some scenes in episodes five and six that were copied word for word from Blade Runner.

There was a remake series, which was well written, but I thought it wasn't quite as good as the original.

Until the day, till all are one.

I like this series, but some of the episodes aren't that great. The "Record of Lodoss War" OVA is a lot better.
