Ghost or Supernatural Being

I don't at all believe in ghosts, so I think the Ripper gained some type of supernatural way to either keep alive or come back to life.

***SPOILERS***

He seemed to be a time traveller. He explained to his last intended victim that he needed her blood to get back to his own century. I think this is rather neat bit of fantasy when you consider that Jack the Ripper just seemed to disappear in 1888.

Here is what confuses me about the ending-----Spoilers Ahead
After falling off the bridge and the stone falling also, does that mean he stays dead since the stone is at the bottom with him?

The way I saw it this film's ending left very little chance for a sequel with the Ripper's resurrection. If I remember rightly the stone needs sacrificial blood which is not likely to happen where it is. There may be the cleansing power of water to hold it there. I must see this interesting movie again.
