52 states

I've often wondered, when Baxter says "in all 52 states" whether or not this was just an error in the script, a way to make Baxter look like a maroon, or a joke.

If it were an error in writing, you would think that one of the actors on set would have been smart enough to correct it.

I never thought it made him look like a maroon. I thought it made him more endearing as an everyday regular joe who was street smart but not very book smart. Hey, there are people out there who cant name all fifty states, and if they try list Mexico and Puerto Rico.

I liked that they made Brewster normal.

House: Hey I can be a jerk to people I haven't slept with. I am that good.

Baxter was portrayed as a smart attorney, so I don't think it was intended to make him look stupid. It could be some sort of inside joke with the cast, or it could be a slip of the tongue that no one noticed with all of the stress of an insane shooting schedule. Or perhaps they noticed it only after it was too late to fix it. Brewster's Millions has a couple of other small errors that weren't caught, so it's not surprising if this one slipped by.

You do prove a point that it could have slipped past after it was made and not realized until years later. That could be correct.

I would put it in the same category as the "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!" line in Animal House.

You know, the line said by the late, great John Bellushi.

Some people would say that this is Mandela Effect residue, though in my memory there has always been 50 states.
