so .. thats it? lol ok

Watched it today for the first time after I heard people talking about it from time to time.

Quite boring - felt like an overacted school play from the "drama class"
Best scene was the teacher - bender fight, where bender gets one saturday after another. Now I finally get the TBC-Reference in "not another teen movie" xD
Other than that there wasnt much going on.

So what am I doing wrong?
What is there that I dont see?

There weren't enough (any) car chases, explosions, CGI, gratuitous nudity, gun play ... How could any millennial enjoy this film?

reply

Probably, not Marvel enough.

reply

LOL, Yeah, that might've been it for him!

reply

I have to correct one thing. Nudity was way more prevalent and casual in 80's and 90's movie than it is now, so that would be more for us 80's babies than a millenial.

reply

You got it! Anyone with any judgement see the genius behind this movie. Even if you don't really like it personally, you should be able to see how it is a classic.

It does not deserve the hype, that´s true.

reply

It's one of those movies that you either like or don't.
I personally like it.

reply

I agree, although I can't think of anyone I know who didn't like it.

reply

My sister always hated it, yet she loves other so called brat pack movies like Pretty in Pink and St Elmos fire etc...

"So what am I doing wrong?"

Giving a brief, shallow, and vague opinion of the film, and failing to comprehend and appreciate this film's exploration of teenage life and conformity that is just as relevant today.

good answer!

The older I get the less I like the film. I think I have higher regard for it than you do but I also think that's because I was the primary market for the film at the time it came out. Even so, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's like an overacted school play.

reply

It’s a good movie, but not a perfect one. Maybe you’re not the target audience.

reply

Seeing how great 'Ferris Bueller's day-off' I never understood the hype for this one.

reply

Those that enjoy it probably really liked and related to the characters and were taken in by their conversations with each other.

If that didn't do it for you than you probably wouldn't enjoy it.
