Anyone else find the ending really dumb?

With all of them saying goodbye as if they was all moving to different parts of the country or something. So even after all they went through that Saturday they was still too afraid of what their friends might think? Bender said it best "Cause you aint got the balls to tell your friends you're gonna like who you wanna like".

Imo at the end they all came off looking like pussies, "Oh no my friends might not approve of you, goodbye forever".

Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.

Well, that discussion came up when Brian brought up the thought that he now considers these people his friends, from all they've been through today. Claire says no and Bender gets angry about it because he feels she is being cowardly about not liking who you want to like and worrying about what your "friends" would think. He also didn't like the fact that Claire was saying that his friends would laugh if she and he were together and he would say, "Oh, I'm having sex with her (a lie)". He felt that if you don't know my friends, why talk about them? In the end, I think though they did go their separate ways as time went on, but they never forgot each other and how that day made them realize that they all had similar problems.

Well speaking from personal experience back in the 80's in my school you were looked down on if you weren't part of " the clique"..or a jock or a cheerleader... I went through it. Although I stayed to myself but got along with everyone
It was those certain jocks that made fun of you.. the stuck up girls who wouldn't give you the time of day... getting beat up and picked on cause you were scared..cause you were different

My school didn't really have any strong cliques at all. I heard the neighboring school had much stronger ones. I think it was a bit mixed in the 80s some didn't really have them anything like they show in the movies but some did.

Jocks stuck with jocks
Nerds with nerds
Stuck up crowd) mostly girls. I knew people from each group
There is still cliques today but I think more in professional occupations.. it'll never change
