I love this movie

This is the best Disney movie I have ever seen. Why is it so forgotten? It's not even listed in the official Disney website. The Blue Yonder definately deserves a DVD.

Well, it is a bit "inspired" by the Back to the Future trilogy.

When it was being made, the story on the set was that it would only be shown on the Disney Cable Channel which at the time was not in a lot of homes. In fact it was one of the first offerings of the reborn "Wonderful World of Disney" on ABC. This was the rebirth of the show Walt Disney hosted years before with Michael Eisner appearing in the host role.

Blue Yonder (aka Time Flyer) was filmed in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, California. I was an extra in the scenes shot in downtown Santa Rosa and played the dead pilot pulled from the burning plane wreckage in the scene that convinced the Peter Coyote character that Huckleberry Fox was really from the future.

Peter Coyote was great as always. He has never really gotten the recognition he deserves in his many roles (such as "Keys" the government UFO expert in ET). My all-time favorite Peter Coyote movie is Heartbreakers, the 1984 film with Peter and Nick Mancuso fighting over a woman. You can see him (in a role I'm sure he got as a result of his ET role) in the USA Network's series The 4400 about abductees returning after years of being with aliens. You can also hear him on many documentaries and commercials. He's got to be one of the busiest voice over actors in the business.

I live in Mexico City, and I remember that I love this movie and saw it like 20 times, and I just felt, 19 years later, that I want to see it again, is there any way to access to it?

reply

Blue Yonder has never been released on DVD or VHS to my knowledge. I have it on tape somewhere (taken from the original broadcast on TV).

Rick,
Thanks for the information. You are correct about Peter Coyote. I saw him on the ET reunion extras, and he is still as gracious and compelling as ever.

This was right up there with the Neverending Story for me. I don't know why it is so hard to find today.
