Saw it for the first time today

When I was little we had many "Look, listen and read" books from Disney. One of them was this movie.

A few days ago I discovered a site where I could order it. (If you`re curious it`s cdon.com, I don`t know if it`s available in the U.S or other countries, the one I ordered it from was swedish.) Found the movie by searching it`s swedish title: Taran och den Magiska Kitteln ("Taran and the Magic Cauldron")

When the DVD arrived I could hear that the disc was not on that little, for lack of a better word: knob that it is supposed to sit on, to prevent it fom sliding around inside the cover. I opened it to check and could see that there were tiny scratchmarks on the surface. This irritated me and I thought that the movie was gonna be unwatchable.
I put it in the DVD player to see if there was any damage.

Forunately I didn`t see anything that indicated that the DVD was broken. (And I know what that looks like, my The Last Crusade DVD is pretty messed up and my 2001: a Space Odyssey has a few moments where it skips a scene.)
It will probably start to act up in the near future though, better make the most of the time where it is OK.

So the movie played from beginning to end without any technical hiccups in english (I prefer to watch movies in the original language).
My thoughts?
It has some good moments that I like but as a whole it feels mostly OK. Could have been better, feels like they could have added more to flesh it out, but it has charm. And the animation (even if it was a little uneven at times) was pretty damn good too.
So it`s OK, but in a good way.

I read that Jeffrey Katzenberg cut out ten minutes of the movie. I would like to see some of that footage restored, it might have made it better.

But I`m glad I watched it.

Will you join the resistance?

Me as well. I bought the video of the movie last week and after I watched it after it came through the letterbox, I don't consider it 1 of my best movies because of the darkness and some of its plot.
