They make fun of Ted Nugent more than anybody on MST3K.

More than Joe Don Baker??

As much as I've heard about the MST3K version I've actually never watched it. I've only seen the regular movie without commentary and I love it every time. Unfortunately I can't see anyone watching the movie for it's own merits. It will forever be linked to MST3K.

Opinions about MST3K vary, but I think they made a lot of good episodes. Most of the funniest in my opinion are the Mike Nelson episodes, especially the SyFy Channel Seasons. "BOGGY CREEK II: AND THE LEGEND CONTINUES..." is a pretty good episode. You might like it if you're familiar with MST3K and what they do. And if you have a sense of humor about the films you enjoy. I usually prefer halfway decent movies being riffed anyway.

I do like the show and think it's fun to watch, I just don't like how people can't separate the movies from the show. On every board for every movie and comments for the trailers on YouTube, every single person says "I love the MST3K version of this" like the real movie might as well have been erased. Also it bothers me how most of the movies in the Bottom 100 list are from MST3K even though they shouldn't be. Odds are people wouldn't have any idea most of the movies existed if they weren't on MST3K unless they were really into relatively obscure B-movies. I guess the show is kind of a double edged sword. I suppose The Cinema Snob and Nostalgia Critic are doing the same thing now with the Internet.

I guess some are more into the movie being poked fun at because it's so funny. Even I'm guilty of that for most of the movies on MST3K. But I did enjoy BLOODLUST, my favorite episode, so much I watched it unriffed. But like I said I prefer a riffing of films that are at best enjoyable. I think BIRDEMIC was so bad, even Rifftrax couldn't save it. I'm too afraid to watch THE ROOM.

lol yeah.

I usually prefer they review films I like or have at least heard of, but sometimes they introduce me to something new. Cinema Snob reviewed HEARTBEEPS, that comedy with Andy Kaufman. I bought the DVD, and it's actually not bad. Not much for story, but the characters are likeable, and Stan Winston's make-up effects are amazing.
