Major plot hole I've never seen anyone talk about! (SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY)

You can only get a DeLorean up to 88 mph if it's pointed downhill! 😂

Obviously, Doc Brown beefed it up in more than one way.

Not if its running on Plutonium.

reply

Plutonium gives electricity to the time machine, not mechanical gas-based power to the engine.

However, is that even true? Also, why couldn't Doc have changed the engine and improved its efficiency? 88 mph doesn't seem to be such a high speed to attain, I've used a regular family car to gain much faster speeds (and almost crashed, so never again..)

DeLorean is a sports car, surely 88 mph would be easy. According to superficial, quick research, DeLorean should be able to do 130 mph, so do you have some kind of links or explanation to your claim, or are you just trying to be funny?

To me, a more glaring 'plot hole' is .. what the heck is that remote control measuring?

I mean, what are those numbers? The car is PERFECTLY STILL, and that remote control shows the number "64" when the Doc 'releases the brake'.

The car doesn't magically instantly travel at 64mph just because you release a brake, there are things like laws of physics, inertia, slowness of mass, etc.. it'll TAKE AWHILE to even reach 64 mph, let alone 88.

Yet this remote controller doesn't seem to take ANY of that into account, by displaying ACTUAL speed, for example. It should've shown "00" until the car ACTUALLY STARTS MOVING, otherwise, Doc has no reason to be so happy about the "88 mph", because the remote control can show ALL KINDS OF NUMBERS EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS NOT MOVING AT ALL!

So how can it be a reliable measure of speed, if it shows numbers REGARDLESS of if there even IS speed?

What is it measuring, the 'speed of the tires'? 'Estimated speed if the brake wasn't on'?

This makes NO SENSE whatsoever.. a meticulous 'Doc' like that wouldn't be so sloppy about things like this! (But he didn't even sync the eyes of the animal clocks although it's supposed to be a serious EXPERIMENT, so maybe the movie lies to us when it tries to depict this character as meticulous and careful about details)
