Love this film but have never understood...

I absolutely love this film but I’ve never understood one part. Maybe somebody can enlighten me?

The part in question is when Marty, upon first appearing in 1955, flags down the old couple in their car. The old woman shouts something like ‘don’t stop’..something like that. What was that about? Were they freaked out by Marty’s appearance in his radiation suit? Or was it something else?

She was hungover and paranoid, the poor husband had been putting up with her episodes for years. Either that it was McFly's jeans that alarmed her, they were spaceage in appearance compared to 50s jeans.

Yeah but also the Delorean was there in plain sight in the middle of the road, maybe that freaked them out too!!

Hahaha yeah, I was always that part was funny and bizarre. I still don't get it either.

I think Marty looked sketchy to them. He gave off a panicky vibe, "hey you gotta help me!!". I probably also wouldn't stop either. Strangers coming up to you in public is always weird.

Maybe the woman didn't want to make a donation to the Coast Guard youth auxiliary?
