Anne of Green Gables DVDs: The Collection v. The Trilogy Box Set

I am wanting to buy all of these movies on DVD. I have come across AOGG: The Collection and AOGG: The Trilogy Box Set. My goal is to have Green Gables, Avonlea, and also the Continuing Story. Does anyone own either of these box sets? I have researched and can't find exactly what all is included in these collections. I would like for one of these sets to include all of the parts, so I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

Hi! The Trilogy Box set should have all three movies that you are looking for. Here is a link to amazon.com that might have more details for you. Hope that helps! :)

Ok, 'The Collection' as it is on Amazon, is another name for the 5-disc 'Collectors Edition':

That has a slightly better picture for the series' (supposedly), and an extra disc with some features the other boxed set didn't have, plus a little commemorative booklet.

'The Trilogy Box Set' is just another name for 'The Collection' (see previous posters' link). This will have no extra disc, and so a few less extra features, and no booklet.

Either way, collection or trilogy, they will have all three parts, and all with commentaries. They should also have the interesting Megan Follows audition footage.

You can get the Anne of Green Gables Collection cheaper at Sams Club. They have for $52 instead of $84 on Amazon. I just thought I would let people know who were wanting to get the collection. If you have Sam's club near you.

Awesome! And I just got a membership!

I've just rented the first two movies because I wanted to re-watch them before buying. The ones I got are double-sided and we had to flip the disc over halfway through. I just wanted to check whether this is the case with all the available sets?

Also, has anyone actually compared the two sets? I wondered whether the 5-disc set is worth it. I haven't seen the 3rd movie, and judging by everyone else's reactions I wouldn't mind skipping it. So now I really can't make up my mind - should I just buy the first two movies seperately, or should I buy one of the collections for the special features?

If you're a big fan then the 5-disc set is worth it. If you're only a casual fan then the regular set is fine. Remember that they aren't strictly 'movies' but miniseries', so having to flip the disc is quite normal since it's difficult to place over 3 hours of footage onto one side of a disc (cheaply).

The 5-disc set is not made up of 'flippers', but rather broken up over the separate discs (sequel is made up of 2-discs, the first series is 1-disc, the third series is 1-disc, and there is a disc of features).

The third series is worth watching, it's just not faithful to the books at all and nowhere near as good as the first two series were. It doesn't quite feel like Anne of Green Gables should.

If money is no issue then just buy the 5-disc set, if it is an issue then buy the first two series and rent the third. If you find you like the third enough you can always buy it at a later date.

I only have the first two series...not really interested in the third tbh. Just want to say that i love this series. Watching brings back so many memories. In the UK they used to show this every year on Channel 4 at Christmas time.

All the performances are good...particularly the actress who plays Anne.

BTW i had a crush on the actor who played Gilbert Blyth

I first saw it during a repeat showing on Channel 4 at Christmas (late 80's/early 90's).

It was perfect for Christmas. I always wanted to be friends with a girl like Anne.
