There's a 1934 version!

I just found it on Youtube. It's in black and white. But basically, you can quote it word for word. But, Rachel Lynde does not exist? It's Rachel Barry, with Diana as her daughter as well. And in this version, Anne names Green Gables, but it's always had that name, so I was confused. And she does not stay at the Hammonds. When she starts school, she's telling Mr. Phillips about her parents, and they have the same conversation as the Anne and the orphanage owner in the 1985 version. She meets Gilbert for the first time at school too.

And the close friendship between Anne and Diana is neglected...

Ah, there are a bunch of different parts, you'd just have to watch it for yourself.

It's kind of weird watching that, being so used to the 1985 version, and Megan Follows does the best Anne. But this Anne is pretty good too.

I've seen the 1934 version. It's actually not bad, but I prefer the Megan Follows version much better. I was very confused though, because the actress who plays Anne in this version is named Anne Shirley. I thought at first that there really was an Anne Shirley and the stories were based on this woman, but I later found out that the actress changed her name legally to Anne Shirley because she loved the character so much.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think there's a third version of this movie. I could be quite wrong though.

I saw the 30s version years and years ago. I didn't like it. They changed the book too much.

Ellery Queen (Jim Hutton) = sexiest man ever!
