strawberry jam and ice cream

I am almost finished reading Anne of Windy Poplars and there was mention on the two treats. Does anyone like preserves on their ice cream? I have never tried it, but I guess it is OK. I do enjoy Smucker's toppings and chocolate syrup.

I have never heard of it till I started reading books that take place in the UK.
I'm reading a series now and the mother serves The children ice cream and jelly. I have never heard of the two together that I remember. I'm not a big ice cream eater either so I've never tried it.

If a UK book is referring to ice cream and jelly, it means ice cream and what Americans call 'jello' not jam :-)

Thank you. That's interesting. I'm not big on ice cream but I will have to try this combination and see who it tastes.

I've been reading books by Cathy Glass who is a foster parent in the UK. She often serves this to her kids and her foster kids. As much as she talks about it, it must be good.

It used to be a common thing to do in the 19th century and early 20th century. If you look at pictures of ice cream from that time you'll see it being done.
