So Costner's character is the one who is sick and his brother is perfectly fine? I've seen this movie 3 times now and I just wanna make sure I was right. :-)

It's confusing because the brother (not KC) believes that HE is the one who is sick. Thinks that is why his brother wants to do the bike race with him (bonding time). In fact, KC is sick and is the only one (along with his girlfriend) that knows it.
