This or the 1972 or 4 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland?

Which one do you like better and which one do you think was closer to the original book?

I have yet to see the 1972 version, but my bff Emma says its her favorite. Considering she was born in England (as was the book), it might be the closest.

Adventures in Wonderland was too cutesy! Alice in Wonderland was a child book with some very dark, serious undertones. This 1985 version captured the dark tones but still remained enjoyable for children.

I think Adventures in Wonderland was closest to the book but this is my favorite version yet.

Most people see things that are and ask "why?", I dream things that never were and ask, "why not?"

oooooohh..good one. Well, I grew up with both of them. I think I like them both equally for different reasons. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland from 1972 was an all british cast, and I remember it being extremely close to the actual books which was awesome. But then the 80's Alice in Wonderland was a fanciful musical, but still touched on exact lines from the book. There was a lot of hate towards the 80's film due to Irwin Allen "americanizing" it up, with celebrties from then, most with their vaudeville backgrounds. However, I grew up watching most of those stars...Carol Channing, Martha Raye, Imogene Coca, Sammy Davis...so it was a wonderful movie in my eyes. Still to this day I cherish it, both of them.

I believe Natalie Gregory (as well as her Alice) was the youngest to play this role.

Despite this being a little long, and could have done without some of the songs, (though the bit with Sammy Davis Jr. & Gregory was good) this one works, because Natalie Gregory was quite charming. This youngest of the Alices literally carried the movie, more so than the all-star cast surrounding her. And the Jabberwocky was an effective looking monster in an era when CGI was in its infancy (and frankly, I thought it was refreshing not to see it in CGI).

I will take this and the Disney version from 1953 over the others, especially the Tim Burton feature.

neither, The one miniseries from 1999 was closer, but combined bother Wonderland and looking glass.
