For me this is one of the best movie soundtrack composed by George Delerue (RIP), who thinks you need to be Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven to write a symphony.
It's out of print but if you can get your hands on it, don't hesitate.
Georges Delerue has composed many of the most beautiful scores in the history of cinema. I listen to this score regularly just for the chorus. The score sounds like church music, in a good way, it's very harmonious and soothing. It's just a pity that not much of it made it to the movie. Acquiring the score is well worth it.
This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

Today I received my copy of the score, along with some other Delerue soundtracks, from Colosseum. It is an absolutely stunning work, which brought a tear to my eye. The chorus is amazingly gracefull, giving the score a decidedly religious atmosphere, but on one occasion it also makes for a more chilling sequence. A true masterpiece in film scoring from a master composer.
It's good to see that the score received an Oscar nomination, since it truly deserved one.

I think Varese Sarabande, who released the soundtrack album here in the US, is still printing it on CD.
I was in my senior year of college at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey when I first saw Agnes of God on Friday, October 4, 1985. I understand the triplex cinema in Totowa where I saw this movie has long since closed (or perhaps torn down?).
As I'm typing this up, that beautiful string piece heard at the end during the closing credits is going through my mind. I do have the movie on DVD, but I also hope to eventually find a copy of the soundtrack on CD.
