Was this the first movie to use the whole "Murphy's Law" concept?

I don't know.

reply

Not really?

Look at all of those buddy movies with Cosby and Hope, Abbott & Costello, The Three Stooges. Then there are movies like Airplane (1980)

reply

Cosby and Hope? You mean like Bill Cosby and Hope Lange? (hahaha)

reply

Them too. Or Cosby filling in for Letterman interviewing Vergara.

A long time ago, (obviously), Bill C was doing stand-up on the "Carson Show", and I swear, me being still a quite young kid and seeing Bill, (who had a big mustache at the time, as I try to recall), slurring his words and so obviously effed up, I didn't know what to think. I had all the fondness in the world for Cosby, and I literally didn't know what to think.
Wasn't until later I figured out he was stoned, and this was before The Cosby Show and all the crap that has followed. Dude was a complicated human being, and I'm sorry he's come to be the butt-end of a joke these days, even if some feel he deserves it. A tragedy of Shakespeare proportions, imo.

No doubt a tragedy and to have your comeuppance so late in life is a nightmare nobody wants.
