I thought Griffin Dunne was the perfect everyman to experience a crazy night in Soho, NYC. The ending was a little weak.

He was exactly what the film needed for its lead. It wouldn't work with a Cruise, DeNiro, Nicholson or Hoffman. You need a guy like Dunne to believe it all. I come back to this film more and more. It's a fun ride.

I just watched the movie and I agree with you! I really liked Griffin Dunne in the role, I also thought he was kinda cute in a weird way. Just my opinion.
