Is Elizabeth dying at the end of the movie? When she is reciting the names of the flowers on her daughter's grave?

The next play in this 9-play cycle, Cousins (which has never been filmed), takes place in 1925 and Elizabeth is still alive.

The money is quickly spent but the shame remains.

. . . and the chronology of the plays follows the chronology of the real Foote family pretty accurately. The "real" Elizabeth (Harriet Gauthier "Hallie" [Brooks] Foote) didn't die until 1974.
