THE CAST FOR THE NEW MOVIE!

ok so warner brotha has announced that their optioning a script for a new thundercats movie!

here are the details

Warner Bros. Pictures has optioned a script by Paul Sopocy to turn the popular 1983 animated series "Thundercats" into a live action feature reports Variety.

The original series story revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee their planet of Thundera after it's destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer, bent on killing them off.

Sopocy's script is described as an origin story expanding on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

The news comes just weeks after it was announced the studio was also finally moving ahead with a live-action adaptation of other 80's cartoon smash "He-Man".

Why does everyone keep saying that? The article clearly states live-action, ergo, actors on screen.

Ving Rhames would def work as Panthro. I was thinking about Michael Clarke Duncan as an other option for that character.

I personally love the cartoon, but definitely think that they need to make it a live action flick as IMDb is posting now.

I am very curious to search for who could work for Cheetara because that's my fav character. Think, people think! lol

As per Lion-O they probably do want a 20-something unknown and trying to think of someone, I thought of this guy who's just starting out. His name is Chris Lowell. I will be reading up this thread because often I find the fans do really well in casting. Until then...

Much luv,
Lorelai

Your an idiot and have no concept of casting....director2000's post was by far the best and should pay that user alot of money for his casting picks. You on the other hand should be banished from civilization.

LOL. If you are going to call someone an idiot, you should at least know the difference between "your" and "you're".

I've read another article where they clearly states that is going to be CGI.

Try this:

And you are gonna agree with the fact that they better keep it like CGI

reply

First of all...those aren't real actors, they're just random people dressing up like the thundercats, second, the acting would be more believable, and third, the stunts would be better because with the technology available to us nowadays, we can do practically anything, i think a live action thundercats would be awesome.

Rachel Weisz for Evelyn in The Mummy 3!!!
Out with Maria Bello!!!

Panthro - Vin Diesel

Lion-O - Stan Kirsch, or maybe Shia Labouf

Cheetara - anyone but Jessica Alba

reply

ya know i have to agree that vin diesel would make a fairly decent panthro. he may be well known but its the best i've heard yet.

reply

Rebecca Romijn for cheetara

vin deisel for panthro

Peter Jackson to direct on a lotr's scale

vern troyer as snarf

bob hoskins or danny devito as slythe

huge jackman as tigra

brad pitt as liono

Sean connery as jaguar or jaga whoeve it was

What do you think??? Has to be on a lord of the rings scale to give it any kind of justice really.

reply

^^^^^^^^^Excellent choices.

lol Any bald black guy with alot of base in his voice can be Panthro.

Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey would be cool, except McConaughey's accent might be weird.

Then again it'll be like the Planet of the Apes remake where costumes would hide most physical features belonging to the actors that might suit the characters.

I just hope they dont get some lame director....I cant sit through another Ghost Rider, Elektra, Dare Devil...and all the other cartoon/graphic novels they ruined.

I heard about this the other day and immediately had some thoughts on casting.

Panthro has to be Ving Rhames--perfect fit
Cheetara--Charlize Theron--She even looks alot like the cartoon
Mumm-Ra--Somebody British--Not American

Anyone got any suggestions for Lion-0, Tigra, and the kids

it shouldn't be live action, it should be exactly the way it was in the 80's, otherwise it'll just be ruined for the people who remember the original, just like they did with the transformers. the plot of the story will be changed like it was with the tranformers as well...don't get me wrong though, i think there are actors around today who would be perfect for the voices, but everything should be kept original and authentic.

reply

Mel gibson as tygra defo. Brandon Routh as Lion-o perhaps?
I really hope this happens. Screw transformers. I wanna see thundercats!
