Season 2

So what's the general consensus on the second season?

I thought it was incredibly weak, especially once Lion-O starts using the sword as a deus ex machina and all the villains except Mumm-Ra are unceremoniously locked up, leaving the series without any sort of a driving force, and gets even worse once the Thundercats return to Thundera.

And what was the deal with the episode "Well of Doubt"? "Here, everyone gets to have a fresh start! Here, go fetch some water in these bags while we chill out in our super-duper-advanced techno-castle wondering why none of us apparently know how to build aqueducts".

I thought the later seasons were a mixed bag. The ThunderCats - Ho! TV movie seemed contrived to fit in as many characters as possible. Lynx-O was the only one of the new ThunderCats who really stood out. The Lunataks were okay. I could have done without giving Mumm-Ra a pet dog and having more Snarfs on the show.

I liked that the later seasons had story arcs and that the final episode actually provided some closure, unlike most syndicated animated series from that time. Good quality animation was maintained in most episodes. Overall, I thought the later seasons of ThunderCats held up better than Seasons 3 and 4 of Transformers, Season 2 of M.A.S.K., and G.I. Joe: The Movie.

It's the final run of episodes, after most of the ThunderCats moved to New Thundera, that I didn't care for. Tygra, Pumyra, the Mutants, and the Lunataks had their screen time greatly reduced. It felt like the series was running out of gas.
