On the Superfriends, Darkseid is mainly driven by his lust for Wonder Woman. Darkseid only had feelings for Kalibak's mother according to the comics. Darkseid since then has only cared for power. He didn't care about any woman, including his own mother.

Darkseid considered Desaad his best friend, and kept him around as long as he was useful, despite knowing the guy had killed the only woman he ever loved.
