There is no 13 hour version

13 hours is the 'air time', not the actual run time. Take out the network bumpers, the beginning credits, the commercials, end credits, the 'previously on...' and the 'next on...' and whattaya get? Not 13 hours. The actual run time is about 9 hours.

That may be true, but the "copy" that seems to be floating around the internet is not the original length. From what I have read the original CBS broadcast was over 6 nights with commericals of course(Sunday through Friday night). When the mini series was re-broadcast on tv, in later installments, it was cut short, probably by 2 hrs running time(or one night). My copy is definitely shorter and really stinks because most of the space content was cut(all of the Gemini storyline), btw there are station overlays from a tv station in Altoona, PA which I think someone has already mentioned here.

Well, what you read was wrong. Here are the original broadcast dates & times: 4/14/85 8-11 pm; 4/15/85 9-11 Pm; 4/16/85 8-11 pm; 4/17/85 9-11 pm; 4/18/85 8-11 pm.

That's 13 hours of airtime - now, deduct everything from my original post (commercials, credits, previously on, next on, network bumpers) and you lose about 4 hours over those 13 hour.

I don't know what copy you have, but the one I have is about 9 hours and has all the story lines. And it doesn't have any station overlays.

So, given that you are presented with the facts, will you still believe your memory?

Not sure I understand your need to be confrontational.. I suppose it's the nature of the internet. Bully for you if you have a complete and uncut copy of the miniseries. However, there is no disputing that when Space was rebroadcast it was cut by some length(I'm not going to say how much, but I would presume it was a 2hr running time or one night). Additionally I will tell you that my "copy" is most definitely the condensed version. However, the copy I was able to obtain does have a documentary on the making by the actor Blair Brown.
