Did the show ever receive a proper end, or was it abruptly canceled? I'm not sure if I saw this on an episode or if it's just wild imagination, but I kind of remember a twist where the boy was also a robot - only more lifelike. If not, how do you think the show should have ended?

I think you're thinking of the episode "My Robot Family," where Jamie dreams that he is the only human in the house and everyone else is a robot. There were no episodes in which Jamie was a robot.
BTW, there was a movie in 1984, I believe, about a robot boy named D.A.R.Y.L., which stood for Data Analyzing Robot Youth Lifeform. That also might be what you're thinking of.
I remember the episode you're talking about. The family is in court or some formal place and Vickki meets a boy. And then they go their seperate ways, but before we do, we see the boy's back opened with all the electircal work.
It was cancelled without a final episode.

They went to Hollywood with a "new & improved" Vanessa robot but Vanessa tried to sabotage them or something, I'm not 100% sure.

The episode where you thought there was a boy robot was VICI wearing boy clothes and a ballcap because the lovestruck computer program LES switched places with VICI. Actually, her data went into the home computer, and LES went into VICI's body. Of course Ted switched them back by the end of the episode.
As for the last episode, which was probably where they went to Hollywood with evil Vanessa, the Fox network promised *new* episodes after summer hiatus, instead we got new cartoons like Tiny Toon Advetures in its place. Sometime during summer hiatus the Small Wonder show was cancelled.
omg-I loved that show when i was little. I am 16 now, and I watched it when I was like 5. that 2 part episode with les, i taped it and it got cut off by some weird commercial. I still have the tapes today!! I love the episode with vanessa when she tried to sabotage the family and was evil. brandon brindle got on my nerves though. was there an episode with vicki in a beauty pageant with harriett?? I also like the one where the foreign kid vladimir was in an academic contest with vicki and they figured out he was a robot too, oh and the one where vicki needs glasses and jamie's bike gets stolen by the kid with the weird laugh.
