What do you want from the next book? (Spoilers for The Prostrate Years)

Today my copy of Adrian Mole The Prostrate Years arrived and I finished it in two sittings. Personally I think it's a masterpiece and really hope that Sue Townsend is considering writing a tenth installment. Here is my wishlist for the next book (If Townsend decides to write one).

* Using the proceeds from the Rupert annual, Adrian, Bernard, and Mr Carlton-Hayes go into business together selling books.
* Make Bernard a major character. He has come on leaps and bounds since Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction and, in my opinion, ranks as one of Townsend's best characters.
* While Adrian's recovery must take centre stage, I would like to see him tackle his other issues such as sorting out his finances and personal relationships, and becoming a better father to Glenn, William, and Gracie.
* Take the books back to their roots, with more of Adrian's writing being featured and him writing more letters to celebrities.
* Pick up some of the unresolved strands from The Prostrate Years such as the village play (Adrian is now on the mend and could take charge of it again), the impending closure of the post office, and the safari park.
* Bring William home.
* Leave the issue of Adrian's paternity untouched.
* Bring back Barry Kent.
* Reveal the secret of Bert Baxter's trunk. If Townsend writes another book and it turns out not to be a Chekhov's Gun, I will not be best pleased.
* More of Michael Flowers. He's a character that everybody loves to hate.
* If the next book (if there will be one) is to be the end of the road for Adrian Mole, give him a happy ending and give the readers some closure.
* Finally, this is a rather silly desire on my part, I would like to see a brief cameo from Peter Savage.

I realise that as this is the board for the television adaptation of the first novel, this is slightly off topic. However, I would be interested to hear the views of other fans.

Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.

I know this post is really old but hopefully you'll see my reply!

I would mainly like to see daisy realising her mistake and come crawling back! I liked them together, it was all too sad and predictable that she left :(

I'd also like to find out what William's doing these days and what's in Bert Baxter's box.
