What series is that Lulu is in?

Series two - the growing pains of Adrian Mole. She replaced Julie Walters as Adrian's mother.

Why didn't Julie Walters return for Growing Pains?

Julie Walters probably didn't return for Growing Pains because she had been nominated for an Academy Award by then and had bigger fish to fry.

But thinking back it occurs to me that she probably had already had her Academy Award nomination when she did the first series, so that blows my theory all to hell.

Julie was probably in high demand and unavailable for filming. I still think of Julie as Pauline when I read all the Mole books, even the later ones.

Does anyone know the reason Julie didn't return as Adrian's mother? I think she might have been filming Buster at the time and also pregnant. There was a space of two years between the series. Which is a bit of a gap.
