Code Name Robotech

Has anyone here seen Code Name Robotech? If so, how is it? Is Rick Hunter in it or does it occur before his arrival?

Never heard of it where did you find it?

Back when ADV first released Robotech on DVD, you could either buy it on individual discs, or in the three disc "Robotech: Legacy" sets that included two individual discs, plus a third "Extras" disc. Codename: Robotech was included on the first Extras disc, and even included an audio commentary by Carl Macek. These discs were also included in the Protoculture Edition that ADV later released as a collection of all the remastered edition discs, plus all the Legacy special features discs.

To be perfectly honest, the audio commentary is more interesting than the feature itself. Basically, when Harmony Gold was first offering Robotech as a syndicated show, they were concerned that people might not understand the idea of such a heavily serialized cartoon. So they decided to produce a TV special to air before the show itself that would show a good chunk of the story. Basically, they took the clip show episode "Gloval's Report" and extended it with more clips to draw out the running time and show the story in more detail. This means they had to record new narration by Gloval to tie it all together, but other than that, it's all just clips taken from the first thirteen episodes of the show.

Incidentally, the audio commentary is included in the A&E sets, but they attached it to something else. I'm afraid I can't remember what, exactly but it was a little awkward since the viewer is now watching something different from what Macek is talking about.
