The Picture Looks Great!

I was surprised at how clean the picture looks on my LCD HD TV considering how old the film is. Very nice!

Hi again!

I finally received my copy from Network DVD! The quality is indeed fine, although the start and end credit sequences are incredibly grainy (it was far superior on the Hallmark UK broadcast in 2000 - don't quite know why they couldn't have used the better versions).

It's great to have it on DVD at last!

Hi again Crusoe!

I'm glad you were able to get a copy as well. I was hoping other people would be able to obtain copies like I did.

I thought exactly the same thing regarding the credit sequence. The one I was familiar with was from the 80's VHS tapes. It was the same images, but the name of each cast member was beneath their pictue on the credits. Also, the end credits were different after each episode (reflecting the actrors who appeared in that particular chapter as opposed to the same one playing on each DVD). I was reading the back of the DVD case, and it said that the original title sequence no longer exists, so a generic version was substituted.

I am very glad to once again have a copy of this great story! By the powers!!!

Have a great day!

Hey!

Wow - I had no idea there was any variation in the credits sequence at all! I just thought the quality was dreadful. The start and end credit sequences on the discs are the same as those used when Hallmark UK screened the series in 2000. That explains what the info on the packaging meant when it said the original title sequence no longer exists.

I must admit too that the second episode froze on me in a number of places despite trying the disc on 3 different machines and I have e-mailed Network DVD about it. Hope you didn't have the same trouble.

Enjoying it tonnes of course!

Kind Regards.

I got mine today too and I have to admit with the exception of the title sequences, the picture is an upgrade from any of the VHS sourced versions. The sound, however, is abysmal. Mono!

Anyway, it would have been nice to have it perfect after all these years, but it seems they did their best with what they have, so I'll digress now and go watch these immediately.

Hi,

Yes, it is great that this series is finally on DVD at all! I recorded it a few years ago and the quality was pretty good, so the DVDs weren't a massive improvement on the version I already have. Hoped there would perhaps be a few extras (there was certainly a 'making of' programme at the time). But these are still minor complaints.

I just saw an alternative version of the credits on YouTube and it seems the difference is because Disney slapped it's name all over it! I like the (non-Disney) version I am used to and which was probably the original, by the powers!

Kind Regards

Hi Again Crusoe, and Hello Mikefaye!

I'm glad to hear that you both were able to obtain copies. It's great to see this story again.

Crusoe, you're right that the Disney credits are the ones I was familiar with, as they had the distribution rights in the U.S. These are the same ones used in both the U.S. VHS and Broadcast versions.

As far as the quality, it was a big step for me because the last version I saw was a poor Disney Channel broadcast version about 15 years ago.

have a nice day!
