Gotcha! I don't get it

The man's girlfriend is either a demon or really good at scaring people. I liked the episode up until the ending. It just sort of ends without a twist or feeling that things have resolved. His narration discusses being in a living hell so he's stuck with her? He can't dump her? I'd say he never should have told her the laughter would stop.

Didn't he say gotcha! at the end?

Exactly, when he says "gotcha" that IS the twist! Of course his blank expression leaves the audience wondering if he was genuinely pulling a prank on her the whole time, or if he's just saying "gotcha" to appear that he's gotten over the scare even though he's still really dealing with it. I think the actress played it well at the very end as well, she looks like she's also trying to figure out if he was just joking or not.

..or at least I think so lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-JphygYybU

t's really very simple....and of you have missed it....what she didn't realize, is that her boyfriend has an extreme fear of the dark (Nyctophobia) and he imagines things worse than they really are....i.e. thinking she's disappearing under the bed, window closing on it's own, etc. hence his viewing her as a scary demon when she jumps up and shouts gotcha in the dark....he has a mental breakdown that he NEVER gets over (blank stare) and mumbles "gotcha" at the end when she suggests leaving the diner. Not everyone can take getting the *beep* scared out of them!! This is autobiographical in that it really happened to Ray Bradbury with his girl friend playing the game; he ended the relationship....
