Mr. Belvedere is also on the final season of Fantasy Island

CoziTV is airing the final season of Fantasy Island in which Christopher Hewett stars as Tattoo's replacement, Lawrence the butler. Having watched a couple of episodes, I've noticed that Lawrence and Mr. Belvedere are essentially the same character, with the exception that Lawrence doesn't have a mustache and dresses formally. Has this comparison ever been made before or was Fantasy Island so inconsequential by that time nobody took notice when Mr. Belevedere premiered?

My guess is that Lawrence was just so seen as nothing more than a Replacement Scrappy for Tattoo, nobody was watching anymore.

I just noticed that, too. I forgot he was on Fantasy Island. I'm sure that job helped him get Belvedere.

Fantasy Island was awful by then, but Lawrence was far better than annoying Tattoo!

Wonder if Christopher Hewett grew a mustache for Mr. Belvedere?

The Pilot for that series was the first time he sported one, and he kept it until his death in 2001.
