Camille's eyes

I just watched the season 2 finale last night and in it Whoopi Goldberg very clearly has one blue eye and one green Why? In real life she appears to have two brown eyes and it was never mentioned as a plot point in the episode that I noticed so why do it? Colored contacts in the 80s couldn't have been fun to wear. I didn't realize they even existed then.
