Does Anyone Know Someone Like MacGyver?

Does anyone know someone like MacGyver?

I have a cousin who is like MacGyver. He seems to be able to do anything with no or minimal tools. He also gets a lot of chicks.

My brother. He was in high school when the show was on TV and all his friends called him MacGyver. To this day he's still like that, fixing things with minimal tools and materials. Some of the stuff he's come up with over the years amazes me. He's good with his hands and has a mechanical mind, he can see the end result to a problem. He never went to college (he was an air mech in the Marines, worked on fighter jets and now is a government contractor doing the same thing he did in the military to a certain degree) so he doesn't have the scientific knowledge of Mac but it never stopped him.

My cousin once made a car with parts from the junkyard. The junkyard owner thought he was nuts. Maybe it was because he isn't a big guy, about 5'5" and 150 pounds. That car was nothing to look at. But it ran, passed inspection and got terrific mileage. Like your brother, he works for a defense contractor. If he didn't go to college he might have become an amazing roadie.

I don't recall anyone like that, but I can say I'm pretty much Mac's opposite. I love tools, especially power tools, and cordless is even better. I use the best tools I have for the job, although on some occasions, I don't have much more than a roll of duct tape and some paper clips.

I think a lot of people will have their MacGyver moments and also their moments when they don't have a clue.

My sisters lived for about a year at a wealthy man's house rent-free because he was transferred temporarily to another part of the country to help on a project. It was a tremendous house, it had been featured in Better Homes and Gardens.

There was a light bulb that had burned out right above the stairs. It was very high up and there was no way that you could put any ladder on it to reach the light.

My sisters asked me to come out there and to see what I thought. I noticed a long empty pole in the garage when I pulled up, so I had an idea. I asked if they had a toilet plunger and some duct tape and they said yes. I got the pole, put the plunger handle inside the pole, and duck taped it to secure the plunger to the pole.

Then I put duct tape inside the plunger end with it folded over itself, and then used the contraption to unscrew the light bulb. The light bulb stuck to the duct tape so when I turned the contraption the light bulb turned with it.

I put in a new light bulb by attaching it to the duck tape inside the plunger and then screwing it in.

My mother asked me how I thought of that and I said it just came to me.

Sometimes you have an idea and other times you don't have a clue. That's why two or more heads are better than one when it comes to problems or issues like this.

the clue would be in mcgyver's profession. in the real world, it would be security contractors and possibly special forces trained extensively in fieldcraft

Yes, his name is Liam O'Gyver and can do just about anything with a potato.

Just my dad. He always carries a swiss army knife and he uses it for EVERYTHING. He can't pull that thing out and get on the job fast enough, it doesn't matter that there's full access to a proper toolbox within reach. He's gonna use that knife.

Personally I don't see it as being like MacGyver, but a lot of my friends tend to ask me to "MacGyver" things.
