orignally ray romano was offered role of jason but turned it down cuz he felt the character was to much of a yuppie

Considering Romano was under 30 when this show debuted I find it unlikely (plus he was mostly unknown and would be unlikely to turn down a network sitcom while Alan Thicke was well known by this time).

I doubt this. I do know Ray Romano was the first Joe in NewsRadio and actually filmed the pilot, then they replaced him with Joe Rogan. He didn't hurt too much though - went and Did Everyone Loves Raymond and made millions.
