Does it get better?

I started watching from the pilot, watched a few episodes but then gave up. It was ok, I thought the main storyline in each episode was ok, but the side stories I thought were really weak. The last episode I watched had some kid that was being bullied and he was scared to tell his dad and it was all really campy and made me give up entirely. Just wondering if the show follows the same formula and quality all the way? Or does it find its feet after a while or something? Thanks.
