Another list thread for your pleasure...

1. Potato (you gotta love Redbeard Rum )
2. Bells
3. Head
4. Money
5. Chains
6. Beer

reply

1. Beer
Because of Simon Partridge ("Wehey! Get it?") and the whole turnip-shaped-like-a-thingy thing and "At our house Nathaniel sits on a spike and I sit on Nathaniel. Two spikes would be an extravagance!"

2. Chains
Because of the charades game with the Spanish Inquisition guy ("Thirsty barking bastard?") and because of Ludwig the Indestwuctable.

3. Potato
Because of Captain Rum ("Ah! You have a woman's bottom, my lord!") and because of depressed Percy ("Lady Caroline Fairfax...I even touched her once!" - "Touched her what?" - "Her, once, in a corridor." - "I didn't know that's what they called it.").

4. Money
Because of the what-about-the-privvies talk with Mrs. Pants and because of Percy's nice outfit in the end.

5. Head
Because of the little-pumpkinny-wumpkinny thing.

6. Bells
Because of Flasheart and the fact that "Kate" is short for "Bob".

But, in the end, all episodes are great!

Hi, I'm rather sick and twisted, how are you?

reply

That's almost the exact opposite of my list

1) Bells- i luv all of the first ten minutes, with kate and her dad, and when they're speaking about jane harrington, and the rest of it.

2)beer- last ten minutes, goblin song, scrumy dreams about ponies

3)chains- nursie's ace in this one!!!!

4)Potato- actually helped me with my history lesson!!!

5)head- the whole thing where he wears the bag on his head

Queenie: Good. Cos i would've chopped her nose off. Imagine the mess when she got a cold. Ewwwwww

reply

reply

"you have a womans hands/purse legs mi lord"

I can't choose too many classic parts in each eposide. But I have to say when Ludwig (master of Disguises) tells Edmund, Melchiot & Queenie "ahh we meet again, I was Big Sally, the sheep & the stable boy (shorty, shorty, spot, spot)

reply

My fave was the one where Edmund becomes Lord High Executioner and Witch-Hunter (or something like that) LOL him bouncing around with the sack on his head was hilarious :D

"We can't use this Baldric.....its gone green!!!!"

"Layeth the Smacketh Down!!"

reply

I love head because of the whole Ploppy conversation. That always cracks me up and its one my dad's and my biggest jokes.

reply

"Ah, you must be the guy who makes the tea around here."
"Aye, that is the executioner Sir... but he does sometimes make the tea"
"Good, and what's your name?"
"Baldrick my Lord, but I'll change it to Ploppy if that'd make things easier for you"
"No thank you I can cope with that. What are you doing here?"
"ah, it's a hobby"
"it would be more fun Sir if he were to change it to Ploppy. Give the place a more family atmosphere"
"A family atmosphere? This is supposed to be a place of pain, misery and death."
"That's what I mean Sir"
"Mistress Ploppy is a bit of social realist Sir"

reply

Sailor: Mummy used to kiss me good night. Would you give me a kiss?
Baldrick: For 6pence? Sure (Pecks Sailor on Cheek)
Sailor. Now. How much to you charge for a good, Hard, Sha...

Or words similar...

reply

Beer!
The Whiteadders are really lawfully evil, and the song at the end, and the thingy, and Percy asking about the vow of silence (OK that's a bit of an easy joke but Tim McInnerny acts it so serious!).

And it's also very ironical because I have a thingy shaped like a turnip!

Say something sensible, Jeff!
Don't tell a lie!

Favourite 2!

Beer

(Knock on door)

Lady W: Where there are guests, there are people to fornicate with!

B: I'll just go and tell them to fornicate off.

(Earlier on)

Nursie: You're having so many good ideas today you'd better be careful your foot doesn't fall off!

Queenie: Is that what happens when you have good ideas? Your foot falls off?

Nursie: Certainly does. My brother had a good idea about cutting his toenails with a scythe and his foot fell off.

Money
(discussing plans to gamble Baldrick's fee of sixpence for favours for sailors at the cockfights, in order to get £1000)

Baldrick: We could take a mad wild killer bull and disguise it as a bird. It would be such a strange looking bird that no-one else would back it. But we could put money on it at odds of 40,000 to one.

Blackadder: Only we would know.

Baldrick: Yes, if we hung an egg between its legs and stuck enough feathers on it.

Captain Redbeard Rum is good in Potato, ("You have a woman's purse, my lord! I'll bet it's never had 6 shipwrecked mariners tossing in it!".

Strangely enough, Sir "Rather-a-Wally" Raleigh was played by Simon Jones, who played Arthur Dent in Hitchhiker's Guide. Geeky but true. Even more geeky, wasn't Redbeard Rum played by a former Dr. Who?

even more geekily the guide was written my douglas adams who also produced some of the dr who episodes. tom backer was definatly the best dr who but i liked peter davison too who further geekilly played the part of the 'dish of the day' in the guide.

And Squirry the Squirrel went "Neep neep neep" and they all went home for tea

I can't decide, but one that stands out in my mind now is Sense and Senility - hilarious, back-breakingly funny. it's got the funniest jokes in it! "Thick Jack Sits In Stocks and Gets Pelted With Rancid Tomatoes"! and Balders and Prince George hiding under the table, Prince George holding the bomb, Prince George asking why anyone would want to kill Blackadder? and "servant ristles shall our supper be" and "suck on his exquisite floppily-doppilies"

Oh god, I'm crazy. I think I'll have to watch it later today!

You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you

Well this is my list:

1. Potato
2. Beer
3. Money
4. Chains
5. Bells
6. Head

I've been a fan of this series since I was about 6,7 or 8 and I think Potato was the best of the lot because it had the best storylines of the 6. They managed to get the characters to do quite a lot in just 30 minutes. Beer is also briliant especially the party scene.

The buck stops at my arse.

reply

1. Head
2. Chains
3. Bells
4. Money
5. Potato
6. Beer

They're all good, though. Head has the best script and the best jokes (especially the scene where Blackadder acts as Farrow), that's why I chose that as best. Chains has Ludwig and the whole hilarious torture scene. Bells is third because of Lord Flasheart. Money, Potato and Beer are quite even.

reply

They are all brilliant but I would have to say

1) Potato
2) Head
3) Beer
4) Bells
5) Chains
6) Money

reply

My list would be

6. POTATO - Took too long to get on the boat and wasted loads of time with unfunny goodbyes

5. MONEY- Really good story line and hard to pick the places for beer, money and bells
4. BEER -Funny but less sensical story line and didn't finish as well
3.BELLS - Good gags but the doctors appointment wasn't funny
2.CHAINS- Really funny and clever story
1. HEAD- Baldrick trying to count was hysterical

reply

1) Money - perfect. Love it when Edmund and Baldrick head off to the docks to do "favours" for sailors and Percy's discovery of pure green. Also the baby-eating bishop is just wicked!
2) Beer - simple but still truly good laughs, marvellous acting by Mr. Atkinson again.
3) Head - especially funny, pathetic "bag on the head" impersonations.
4) Bells - it was OK.. the Wise Woman was crap, LOL
5) Potato - some funny bits but the first half dragged on a bit
6) Chains - seemed like the work of other writers or smth, jokes were weak and a bit empty

reply

1. Money

edmund: you do realize what this means percy?

percy: could it be..

edmund: that you, percy, lord percy...are an UTTER BUERK.

6. Money

Just a painted face on a trip down suicide row

reply

Geez... I think all of Season Two is just about equally brilliant. The other seasons, I have definitely least favorites, but it's hard to name one for the second.

I'll try, nonetheless:

1. Money
2. Chains
3. Beer
4. Head
5. Potato
6. Bells

Might rate Potato higher but I've seen it at least a dozen times. Same with Beer, which was the funniest thing EVER the first time I saw it.

Well yes, a splat today, but tomorrow - who knows, or dares to dream?
