Great-Grandson of Prince Edmund?

Many people say that the Blackadder in Blackadder II is the Great Grandson of the Blackadder in the first series. But this doesn't make sense because Prince Edmund dies at the end of the first series without having had any children. Am I wrong?

The song at the end of "Head" starts with the line "his great-grandfather was a king, although for only twenty seconds," evidently referring to the original Blackadder. Edmund is never mentioned as having any children in the first series, but he could have fathered one out of wedlock at any time - indeed, on my old video cover for Blackadder II the Tudor Edmund is described as "the bastard great-grandson of the repulsive original." A bastard in both senses of the word!

i was wondering about that and how in the 3rd series, blackadder who passes himself off as the prince, probably had to father a child out of wedlock for his commoner descendant in the 4th series. each reincarnation seems to be fathered illegitimately

Maybe the poodle was his grandfather.

Why is it whenever I'm having fun, it's wrong?

Actually Blackadder I descendants are the only ones that makes any sense; because Blackadder I was married and by the time he died his wife was of birthing age (14). Blackadder II and onward must have been illegitimate.
