what character was blinded in the trenches and did Marty die in a city in Flanders, not trenches?
I cant believe Andrew Clarke who recently starred in neighbours played Marty-he was my first ever crush!

it was the weedy guy who was a librarian before the war.
I think Marty died in a bomb crater.
The blinded character was Max Earnshaw (Cyril was his Politician father).
Martys character was shot dead in the village of Hammell (an historicly accurate battle). Cheers.

I am reading the book that the min-series is based on by Patsy Adams-Smith. It's an intimidating looking book but it's interesting.
