Probably is. I live in the NYC area also, now I don't have Centric. I have BET and they have extremely long commercials when "Martin" and "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" is on. I'm talking about commercials that are about 10 mins long. A 22 minute show with commercials mind you equals 30 minutes but the network has it running for about 45 minutes. And let's not forget they edit the show. And this is all probably just for the network to allow more advertising. It's annoying.

I ended up catching this show late last night, i wasn't paying attention to what channel. But i just happened to watch it after the golden girls previously aired. i liked the show!

The more personalities you have the less boring you are!

That was probably on logo. The same channel I found it on.

It's not just you. Centric adds tons of commercials! They must really need the ad revenue as a new network. I'm hoping one day they won't have to do that.

Really sucks they have to edit the shows on top of all the commercials. Today was a flashback episode and they cut Pearl as a young woman.

I'll stick with it, though.

I'm watching 227 right now and I timed the commercials. 8 minutes and 45 seconds. That is RIDICULOUS. And the time slot is showing that it's a 45 minute show. And the average 30 minute show is usually around 22 or 23 minutes of the actual show. So that means there is more commercials than there is the actual program.

reply

Yes! they are long and whats worse is that they are cutting very funny scenes. There is a scene when Mary throws her back out and Rose tells her to lay down and her and Sandra try to tell her a story about being on a beach. I love that scene and they always cut it.

The amount of commercials has nothing to do with Centric being a new network and needing ad revenue. Networks that air old shows do this a lot these days and I suspect it's just plain old greed, not need. I've noticed that the Viacom owned networks (Centric, Logo, BET, TV Land) are really bad about chopping out scenes in haphazard ways and inserting more commercials. And they all play the same commercials too!

I agree with you. It's not a "new channel thing." In fact, some channels when new play less commercials until they become bigger and greed takes over. (VH1 Classic and LMN come to mind--both had few ads when newer stations.) a new channel that plays a lot of ads seems to be fashioned after the networks owned by the company they're under that is guilty of doing it with all their stations.

"227" on VH1 right now is doing the same thing. Centric is terrible too, and I agree, it's a greed thing. Such a bummer to lose so much content for long ass commercial breaks.

Yes, the ads are really long. So long that sometimes I have to try to remember what happened before they went to commercial.........
