Creepiest Scene

This movie had a lot of creepy moments throughout. One of the creepiest scenes in the movie is when Atreyu comes across the paintings that depict all the events of the film in which he had partaken up to that point. It's frightening to think that someone would have been able to draw all the scenes in such detail so quickly, let alone the fact Atreyu's every move was being watched. Does anyone have a link to a video clip of this scene I'm referring to?

Atreyu lives in Fantasia, a place with Luck Dragons and rock biters and so forth. He would not be surprised at things that just appear as story illustrations. His world is a storybook world.

Its not creepy that they were painted so quickly because they weren't , if it's creepy it's because they were painted a long time ago, before any of the events took place.

The creepiest scene is when the luck Dragon is getting his ear scratched and he starts groaning. It made me slightly uncomfortable. Lol

Damn right. Gmork was a creepy ass wolf and probably terrified most kids who watched this movie. However, that puppet was really well done!

The dark music made the scene with Atreyu seeing Bastian in the mirror very creepy.

The part where Atreyu is climbing Shell Mountain not knowing Morla is underneath. Atreyu calls for Morla, and the "mountain" starts shaking and Atreyu slides down into the mud as Morla's giant head comes out. No wonder why Bastian screamed.

Morla scared the hell out of me as a kid! I was about 7 when I first watched this movie and although I loved it Morla was so creepy.

He kind of reminded me of ET. He had a similar face. ET scared me as well, actually he still does and I'm 25. I think a lot of people have a film as a kid that creeped them out and ET was mine. The part where Elliot finds him in the cornfield...Jeez, I screamed as well!

I couldn't agree more with the OP. I remember that when I was a child the scene with the rock paintings gave me a very uneasy feeling. I also remember being shocked by how much on-screen blood there was in the fight scene shortly after with Gmork. Yes, there were many very creepy scenes in this movie and it has a definite dark edge to it, yet I feel that most good fantasy adventures do, and it helps make this movie so memorable.

Creepiest scene is probably the dad drinking orange juice with and egg in it.

YES! This! Ew.

I agree. From a human standpoint, that would be really unnerving to see that.

I thought it was awesome. To me it meant, what books mean to me, the story can be repeated over and over again hence "The Neverending Story". And that in Fantasia, a place where over imagination annd dreams made, Atreyu had already done what he'd done over and over. Actually reminds me of the movie The Mummy 2 where Rick sees the cartouches of how the Scorpion King can be killed. But that's thhe beauty of books and movies, you ccan read/listen/watch over and over again and sometimes discover things you've missed at first. However, with that scene G'Mork kinda freaked me out when I was a kid. But now as adult, I think he's awesome. It was a well done job for back then.

Definitely Agree with the OP about the paintings.

It's almost like the Gmork evil spirit caused those paintings because let's remember, the Gmork says so himself, that he is the Servent who was sent to capture the only one to Stop the only one to Fight the Nothing.

Did anyone notice when Atreus wakes up from falling off of Fvalkor, he sees Cat or beast like footprints which indicates Atreus is being followed and that the Gmork was already on that deserted Island where Atreus 1st finds the Rock biter, and then sees his journey being depicted.

Another scary scene is where Bastian falls and that stick with a Wolves face or head falls stirring right at him.
