The Klaus Doldinger score truly is a masterpiece

I can listen to it constantly and it still moves me. The film would suffer so much without it.

Fave tracks? Probably Atrejus Quest, Fantasia, Theme of Sadness and Happy Flight. But all incredible.

100% agree! Fell in love with the Happy Flight theme since I first heard it at 6 years old. That and the swamps of sadness theme are perhaps 2 of my all time fav pieces of music ever, oh and The Theme of Sadness pan flute piece it makes me cry every single time I hear it, inspired me to play the keyboard and get a panflute :)

It also prompted me to check out other works of Doldinger's, atm it's DAS BOOT and even hearing it for the first time doesn't make me love it any lesson, the main theme is epically awesome and nostalgic an there's another slow beautiful guitar piece called Erinnerung, worth listening to and nice and simple to play

The feel of his music is so nostalgic and majestic , the use of synth definitely adds to it he just gets it so right. Definatley check out his other works if you love this soundtrack :)

Yes, I've got the original soundtrack album on CD, and I play it often too. There's such a wonderful flow and unity to it, which the American version just doesn't have.

In fact, Giorgio Moroder made matters worse by putting drastically modified versions of the tunes on the album, with heavy synthetic disco beats and wailing guitars, which is so unlike the atmosphere of the movie to me!

P.S. Also check out Doldinger's really lovely tune "Our Friend Julli" on iTunes, or Spotify, and his very funky theme for the long-running German TV crime series Tatort (with Doldinger on electric piano with wah-wah pedal):

Don't have a favorite track, though I think the main theme for me is probably the thing I love most.

It's great music.
