is sooo good in this movie. one of the great "drunk" performances. i love bisset too.

Too bad they're both AWFUL! Finney gurgles and babbles non-stop as if he's chewing on a handful of marbles for two hours. He never attempts even one minute of clarity or alcoholic induced epiphany. Bisset is as vacuous as a doorstop.

I appreciated the performances the way you did, teejay. Not everyone sees them that way, obviously.

That's what real alcoholics are like. Finney rules for not trying to Hollywood it up.

have you ever been drunk? or for that matter, almost brain dead drunk? u would speak like u had a mouth full of marbles too! i have been that drunk in my life and even the way albert is moving his shoes walking through the graves is legit.... because he was drunk during the entire filming.... idiot... i guess your grandfather was the bloke who judged charlie chaplin second in a look alike contest........ obviously you just dont like alcohol or white men, because thats ur only response possible you stooge!

Agreed, teejay. Finney's superb as usual, and I don't think Bisset (beautiful lady with limited range) has ever been better.

Yep, agreed. Finney was remarkably good, and Bisset held her own.

One wonders if Finney truly was inebriated in this film, he's that realistic. Andrews, a fine actor, was wasted though.

He's amazing. Probably his finest work.

I thought both of them were amazing. Finney played the drunk as though he were trying not to show his drunkenness, which must have been pretty challenging if you think about it. . . . . .a sober actor playing a drunk who's trying to hide it. I have to say that even though I admired the acting I tired of the drunkenness, and hoped that there would be a moment of sober. . . .actually I think there was, but it was brief.

Why the heck did his wife come back?????
