Alain Delon

It's been almost twenty years since I saw this film... and yet, what I remember the most (apart from the overall impression that it was good, a decent - if not entirely successful - effort to be true to the "spirit" of Proust) is Alain Delon as de Charlus.

I believe it's probably his best work.

(And I will always deeply regret that Minelli couldn't employ him in "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse", as he wanted. It is clear that Minelli saw his true potential. I suspect it would have been a much more impressive film - and Delon's career might have gone in a different - better - direction.)
