Favorite Scene

When I was a kid and in love with this movie, my favorite scene had to have been when Hillary's boobs lit up. Made any adolescent boy like myself very happy.

reply

Any adolescent boy? You've got to be kidding. Surely you are aware that not every single person in the whole, entire world is hetero. Most adolescent boys were probably staring at Val Kilmer.

reply

2 1/2 years after the fact but the comment referred to 'any adolescent boy *like me*'. This guy obviously was hetero, and he was speaking on behalf of himself and the members of the adolescent boy population who *are* hetero, I know we're a rare and dying breed, but believe it or not, there are some of us still out there!!

Gotta side with you, glumpy. Angry, militant gays and their antics don't do our (ie my) cause any good. As a gay man, I'm embarrassed and dismayed by the pride parades, Rosie O'Donnell, and all the other wack jobs out their "working" for "my cause." ... I thought jdennis-2's comment was dumb and uncalled for.

But I will agree that Val Kilmer was in georgeous form for this movie...

I'm a big fan of Abrahams/Zucker comedies (I think I've seen most of them), and am hoping for a Naked Gun 4 before beloved Leslie Nielsen (now 80) is no longer able to work (I'm praying he keeps working past 100!)...

reply

Most normal adolescant boys are heterosexual- so, yes he's right to generalise. The proportion of young lads gawping at Val Kilmer would have been it the very small majority. So, dont talk crap.

It's possible you may have met some gay males in your lifetime and you just didn't know it since they never said in front of you that their gay.

Not all gay males fit in your version of what you think a gay male should look and act like.

I haven't seen this movie for many years, but adored it as a kid. The bit I remember most, and still makes me giggle every time I think of gorgeous Val is that funny kissing scene. Very tongue in cheek...

reply

The "little hoarse" bit - cracks me up every time :D

reply

I like the Deja Vu line when hilary introduces him.

"Have we not met before misure?"

reply

I can never watch the dance in the ballroom without falling on the floor laughing. That and "I know a little German, he's sitting over there"

reply

LOL i know! same here

reply

I love it when they made a model of the castle they're about to break in to and the model is excactly the same, including the train! Had to paus the movie there, fell out of my chair laughing.

reply

I love at the Potato farm, when you see everyone's running you see the feet and then they start to dance... I'm laughing even now! :)

I love the chimeney fallig down on a parachute...

This a cult movie to me but it's been a long time since i saw it last. At the end the Wizard of Oz parody is pretty funny. I like also when someone in the Kilmer gang(I don't remember who is it)fires everywhere and only the bad ones fall down. There are too many geat scenes in this movie. It's really one my favorite comedy of all time.

reply

My personal favorite is when the Nazi's read the memo, dig through the desk, and find the "Find Him and Kill Him" rubber stamp.

The Pinto scene is randomly funny too

reply

The underwater bar fight scene was nice. Not hilarious, but I found it creative.

reply

My favourite part would have to be the boots in the field or when the german man picks up the telephone and its massive or when Nick looks at the professors escape tunnel, aaaarrrggghhhh!!! I love the whole movie.

reply

srry bout the time gap =/.

I agree, my favorite scene was the boots in the field. It sets up so much suspense as you think they've been caught, only to find that they're empty. I laughed myself silly. Also liked the scene when the officer got a call about the injured police officer. This movie is so random, thats what sets it apart.

reply

My favorite seen would have to be when the soldier falls off the watch tower and when he hits the ground he shatters like porceline. hahahahaha

reply

i'd have to go with the bookstore-backwards scene, it was great; and the underwater-cowboy-fighting scene is very good too.

reply

I love the bit with the guy walking through the train station with a brown parcel and the German dogs start barking at him. The Nazis take him away and shoot him and the parcel drops to the floor and bursts open and it's full of dog biscuits. Quality.

Another favourite is the singing horse. "It's been a hards days night and I've been wurkin like a dog." LOL

reply

xardas...those are my faves too. i run a video store in AZ and whenever i play this movie, theres always people standing and staring at these 2 scenes. that bakwards scene is so funny, and so well done!

reply

Here're a few...

Deja Vu (I think): "Well, Mister Rivers... it seems you have become, how do you say, indispensable?"
Nick Rivers: "Indispensable."

Also the Anal Intruder 3000 bit (the look on Nick's agent's face is classic!) and, yes, DEFINITELY the Pinto blowing up from just a TOUCH of its rear bumper, accompanied by a great metallic "ting" sound effect when it's hit. Hiiiiigh-larious.

Milhouse: Wow! It's like Speed 2, only with a bus instead of a boat!

reply

My favorite's the shootout at the Potato Farm, and I also love Du Quois' "Latrine!" and the subsequent scenes.

reply

"I've been here twenty minutes!"

Join my new political party, the Anti-Death Party, and remember... Death is dead

reply

Unfortunately I don't know the English text because I have the synchronized version (Hungarian language), but I guess you will recognize what my favorite scene is:

German colonel talks by phone to the hospital:
- Ah... I see... Please inform me if there is an improvement in his condition.
And then he turns to Nick and says:
- He's dead.

CRAZY!!!!
The best comedy I've ever seen!

reply

The calf suckling at one of Nigel's "udders" while he's in the cow costume: "OOhhh...oohh yeh...what's the hurry! Why are we always in such a bloody rush!...OOOFFF!
Love the old guy smashing his guitar at the end of Nick's version of "Tutti Frutie" too.

reply

Nicks jingle he made up about Macy's to the tune of "Are You Lonesome Tonight"!

Are you lonesome tonight?
IS your kitchen a sight?
Are your wardrobes all run down and bare?

You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!

reply

"What phoney dog poo?"

Genius.

"Not you!!"
"I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. See you later."

reply

tcbuzz,

Do you have the lyrics to the song ? Not the original, Val's version.

reply

My fave bit has to be before Nick seduces Hillary with the song below, and he describes his time working at a Dept store, when there is rush on in the 'pre teen maternity store' as it the 'semi annual lincoln birthday celebrations'.

As for the song..............

Are you lonesome tonight,
is your kitchen a sight,
are your wardrobes all run down and bare.

Is your lipstick all smeared,
Are your stockings none sheared,
do they make your legs show all there ha-ir.

Do the tears on your pillow,
roll down as you turn
Do they short out the blankets,
and make the sheets burn.

Is your heart filled with pain,
will you come back again,
Shop at Macy's and love me tonight!

reply

Hahaha ....you must be a guy.

Is your lipstick all smeared,
Are your stockings not sheer
do they make your legs show all there ha-ir.

reply

The camera is near the telephone, making it appear big.
As someone aproaches to talk on the phone, you see it is really big.
Good one.

reply

"Most adolescent boys were probably staring at Val Kilmer."

Just wanted to point that out. What a joke! "Most adolescent boys"? Be realistic.

Anyway, I love the horse singing part, the dance (which very much reminded me of The Sound of Music at the start) and the underwater fight ("Goodbye..." that showgirl is hilarious).

reply

It seems that everybody forgot the scene on the street with "blind" salesman and Omar Sharif, "you drop your funny dump - What funny dump?" :-)))

Swedesh bookshop - backwards, singing horse, "Find Him and Kill Him" rubber stamp, ballroom orchestra smashing their instruments after Nik performance, funny dance in ballroom, olympic german woman team, etc. :-))) I could count up the funny scenes to infinity... This movie is one of the best comedies I ever saw!

In the German translation he says:

"Oh nothing he thought of it when he had a stiff neck!"

Anyhow this film only makes sense in the translation, as all East Germans are spoken with the funny accent, which is common for saxony (e.g. Dresden)!

reply

Sharif, "You dropped you phoney dog poo"

Seller, "What phoney dog poo?"
