INCREDIBLE!

This doco had such a profound effect on me. I am a straight 20 year old male and went in there thinking i wouldnt get much out of it but i found it just incredible. I know all docos are subjective however this was not completely bias and thats something i really appreciated. What an incredible guy Harvey Milk was.. If you havent seen this, please do... Its really fantastic

I agree with both of you.

I watched this documentary earlier today. For me, I can not believe Dan White only served around 5 years for killing two people.

Thanks for this documentary because I may have never learned about Harvey Milk; the other people apart of the politics; and the killing.

Thanks.

What's really incredible is how few people have left any threads on this site about this film. I'm sure that if you look up trash films like American Pie the threads will keep you busy for ten hours... and this film gets hardly any recognition at all. THAT is incredible... but then, that's "American Culture" for you...

Dont blame us--this is an INTERNATIONAL movie data base, remember? so if we are all just American slobs who can't read a subtitle, where are all the "cultured" Euros and Asians?

To pogostiks:

There are movies, which are so great, that it is unnecessary to talk much about them, because it talks for it's self.

Wonderful man; wonderful film. Harvey Milk was one of a kind.

Darlin', don't ever take a Southern woman for granted

It is sickening that Dan White served only 5 1/2 years. But sadly not that unbelievable.

This film was fantastic.

"I'm aroused and confused."

Well Dan White (with a very interesting last name for such a bigot) did us all a favor and did himself in a long time ago.

I feel this man does the great job about rising up the gay's right. Whatever we agree with gays or not, it's no doubt that he starts a new age of human being's freedom. It's really touched that he just did what he think he must do. Devoting himself to complete this great behavior is worth respecting him. This document also shows there is something unfair in this world that we must pay attention to it! Perhaps some day we will meet the same problems, so don't let the human right get down.

reply

I think we all need to respect everyone we meet, because you don't know what they have gone through or are going through at the moment. So, definitely if we meet someone during our lives who is struggling, no matter what kind of problem, it is nice to take the time to understand them. Harvey Milk did just that in serving as Counsilor of San Francisco.

I'd have to agree with you. It's amazing that I had no clue who Harvey Milk was before I watched this movie in one of my classes. With a great man who did so much for the gay community, he shouldn't be forgotten; therefore, I strongly recommend others to rent this documentary on their own or have teachers show it in class. It got me thinking and I'm sure it will get others thinking too, not only about gay rights, but just the rights of every single individual in this world.

I thought this documentary was absolutely gripping.
The other thread going on about how it encourages rioting is just silly. Of course it made sense that the people rioted, since they suffered a great injustice.
If you can get away with killing 2 elected officials, anything goes.

Bullshit. He didn't "get away" with it. There was a trial and he was convicted. You can't go rioting every time you don't agree with a verdict.

reply

Yeah, it's a great film. Highly recommended.

I might see it. But I have about 25,000 films I have to watch first.
