DVD?

Hi,

I ordered the DVD of this documentary (a two discs edition, ASIN: B0001Y4LDW) on amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Times-Harvey-Milk-1984/dp/B0001Y4LDW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1237757773&sr=8-6).

I recently learned, however, that it had been back-ordered and that they were currently unable to send it to me since they no longer had it in stock.
I saw on amazon that the DVD was released by "New Yorker Video" (apparently aka New Yorker Films). I made a little research about this company and found out it went out of business (http://www.newyorkerfilms.com/).
I also read a customer review on amazon (written on March 17th '09) which said that "the film was restored not too long ago (the image and sound are really good), so it probably won't be long before an affordable, mass-market edition is again available" (Joseph P. Menta, Jr).
I should add that amazon.com themselves do not know when they'll get some new copies.

Ok so now that you've got all the infos I have, do you think I can still hope to receive this DVD, or do you think, since "New Yorker Video" (which owns (owned?) the rights of this movie) went out of business, that I can forget it?

Thks a lot!

I was looking on Amazon myself, and the copies are outrageous prices ($500+)
Sometimes you can find it on eBay for around $30+

I actually obtained the entire film through a torrent download. (I know... I know.. not legal, but hey, if no one is going to make it commercially available...)
And a really descent copy actually.

Edouard,

I have noticed that Amazon still lists the DVD as out-of-print and that resellers are offering single copies at huge prices. I ordered one of the more reasonably-priced ones recently, but, like most of the other resellers, they say they have it but they don't. Just today, however, after a Google search for it, I saw several resellers, new to me, who were offering the "20th Anniversary DVD" for around $20. I have ordered one, and if you are still interested, I will let you know if I actually get it.

I am confident that with the notoriety around "Milk" and Sean Penn's Academy Award, that this excellent documentary will be reissued by SOMEBODY while there is money to be made.

Additionally, if you have video capture software on your computer, you might be able to download the film right here on IMDB, as they list it as a film you can watch in full on their website.

Good Luck!

David.
