What a Strange movie...

I love Clint Eastwood movies practically raised on them. This is one I wasn't allowed to see and then I was about six years old. So, all these years later I buy it and I tell you Eastwood wanting licking sweat off Bujold and the sexual metaphor charged work out scene? Oil dripping off his naked body while on top of a woman? Eastwoods ASS!!! What the hell is with this film? It is a diferent role for him, but it did not fit like a glove. Did his daughter see this when it came out or was he like you know movies aren't real, so when you see the scene where I tighten my tie around the hooker's neck for a blowjob, she just rested in my lap until cut was called. F@#kin weird.

Yes, you are completely right, it is a strange movie and a good thriller.
Just i would have liked that there was more mystery-building about the criminal cop, Clintwood found him in a very peculiar way (just a photo he saw by coincidence on his table!). That is not strong enough for suspense.

I agree. Strange movie but good thiller.

I think it was pretty much a middle-aged crisis movie..
as is hinted in a lot of Clint- movies during the 70-80's..

I liked it.

I however didn't agree with the ending.

Most of them were not very good? Are you kidding me? Sudden Impact? Dead pool? Heartbreak ridge? Clint "WAS" the 80's and the 70's and the 60's....

I thought the film's strangeness was what made it so good. The extremely perverse sexuality on display throughout was quite sordid and disturbing, yet still compelling just the same.

Indeed. I love the fact that it linked the sexual peccadilloes to both the killer and the hero, instead of the us vs. them mentality a lot of thrillers have. This film acknowledges that good guys can also be into the kink (as long as they don't kill people, of course, but that would make them bad guys).

I also love Genevieve Bujold's character and the fact that Clint connects with her in addition to the shadier ladies. I think this film is very honest in its exploration of the dark side and acknowledgement that it's not necessarily evil if kept in check.
