One of My Earliest Memories

One of my earliest memories is of watching this music video on TV. (I couldn't have been more than 3 at the time.) I remember the ending, when the zombies start to tear into the room with the trapped girl, terrifying me. The relief of finding out it was just dream was short lived, when, at the very end, Michael turned into the camera and smiled with those demonic eyes. This video traumatized so severely, that, even years later, when I was 8, I wouldn't let my friend play is audio cassette copy of "Thriller". (This was after I had seen movies like "Aliens" and "A Nightmare On Elm Street".) I don't think I ever managed to see the video again until my late teens.

Originality needs a reboot.

First of all, darkzero. Love your signature and I couldn't agree with you more. Surprised there isn't a thread on here calling for a remake, lol.

I was 12 when I first saw this all the way through and that was bad enough. Caused me to have nightmares last night, and plenty of other times previously. I was 3 when it first came out and there was a VERY brief clip of it on breakfast television as it was such a phenomenon and that was enough to creep me out over it for years!! Decided to give it a go at 12 and my heart was in my mouth for the entire thing! It's that zombie that appears in close-up that really gets me. Yikes!

It was me,my dad, my aunt who was 13, my Grandma and 10 of my cousins watching it in December I remember it was snowing, it debuted in mid afternoon, it was all I spoke of and the only thing I remember from the previews/trailer was Michael walking with Ola and the bloody thriller logo before it came on..

So it the "GET AWAY" part came on and I jumped and cried I was three I couldn't handle seeing Michael turn into a monster, I became a fan in spring when I first saw the Billie Jean video then his Billie Jean performance for the Motown 25th anniversary I became a die-hard fan of his, so I was used to seeing him smiling, laughing, singing and dancing

However his zombie scenes didn't scare me as much I think because he was dancing and I can still see its Michael, even the cat eyes at the end didn't scare me ...My actual first magazine I got was the Newsweek one where Michael is on front wearing that hot pink outfit during the victory tour when he performed working day and night..I asked my parents for it for my fourth birthday present and I got it and enjoyed it very much ?

Talking about this last night with some friends. We all agreed that this was absolutely terrifying when you are a kid! I told my friends I can a lot of horror without flinching, but this (and the very final scene of Live & Let Die) are the only cinematic experience to really get under my skin.
